Part 3: Breakfast at chef Mickey's and Shopping day at Downtown Disney

A month or so ago, I reserved a breakfast time at Chef Mickey's, which is at the Disney Contemporary resort. At the time I obviously didn't know it would be the one morning of pouring rain. Score! We had nice indoor plans. Nice to keep the Disney theme alive, but with a day of rest from the theme parks.

Below is Rose waiting patiently outside the restaurant. As an aside, Rose has been a very very good baby. She has been eating her food amazingly, which has occupied her greatly at any restaurant. We feed her while we wait and she nibbles on cheerios while we eat. And she has still been doing fabulously in her stroller with very few naps. And only the one major meltdown before the late night fireworks. And her teeth! OMG, her top ones are huge now and you can completely see them out and teeth-like, and she has 3 more that have come through slightly. She is the noisiest sleeper ever and moves around all night long mouth breathing (she still has a small cold) and making noise. I constantly think she's waking up when she's not. For us to do this many days at Disney with a baby, well, I basically think we rock. We can probably do anything now.

No, Paige isn't drinking coke, it's her only drink of choice of course--milk.

First up to our table: Chef Donald! The characters wander around the restaurant hitting every table. We had a nice table in the quieter section of the restaurant beside a window with views of the Cinderella castle in the distance. The waitress informed us when the characters would be coming so we knew when to go get our buffet breakfast.

Mickey dancing for the celebration song.

As Mickey was signing her autograph book, Paige gave me a look of disbelief that Mickey was right there! We thought the autograph book would be good for Paige as we knew she wouldn't talk to the princesses or characters. It was a way for her to interact with them without feeling nervous. She kept handing the book over as soon as they came.

Right before Paige posed for this picture, Mickey went over to Rose and hugged or touched her or something and the pouty lip came out followed by full on crying. I wish I had a picture.

With Pluto. Rose wasn't too sure about him either.

Minnie was so cute looking:

She was ok with Minnie:
With the last character of the morning, Goofy:

Rose was doing good by this point:

Super yummy tiny Mickey waffles. Paige likes to eat them straight up. With her hands and no toppings. They also had the usual--pancakes, fruit, eggs and bacon. All very good.

After Chef Mickey's, we drove to Downtown Disney, which is a shopping and restaurant area. It is home to the largest Disney store in the world. Huge. HUGE! They had everything. We spent a large chunk of money there. I knew it was there so we saved buying anything major until we got there. For the entire vacation we have seen little girls in princess dresses and Paige wanted in on that. She had talked about it for a couple of days, and we thought it was a good souvenir. She can wear it to the parks and people call her a princess, etc. I asked her which costume she would like and she picked Cinderella right away. A perfect choice with her blonde hair, I thought. You can see in the picture below that they had all the other options: Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Tiana, Snow White, etc. We needed to try it on to ensure it fit, and she wanted to continue wearing it, so she wore it all through the store as we shopped. It was cold outside, so she could just wear it on top of her clothes. She needed an XXS size. Not sure it will fit next year, but yet another benefit of having 2 girls!

Paige also spent some of her "pocket money" and got a tinkerbell doll dress up thing. We got a special photo album to put our pictures in, a coffee mug, a magnet, and a present for Lizzy!! While we were shopping some ladies from the Bippidi Boppidi Boutique came over and sprinkled glitter all over Paige's hair, trying to plug their services. Basically they do these--what I have come to think of as--horrific princess makeovers on little girls. Slicked back glittery hair with poufy ponytail hair extension, makeup and nail polish. With the dress it is over a hundred dollars. Paige looks far far cuter in her dress au natural, even with the messy hair. She was happy with the glitter in her hair though of course. And she did tell me, however, later on that she wants "little kid nail polish". I told her when she was 4 she could have some.

After visiting a Toy Story store, and a Lego store, we went to eat at the T-Rex cafe, which is like the Rainforest Cafe, but with animatronic dinosaurs. There was a "meteor shower" every 15 minutes where the dinosaurs went crazy and the lights changed. Fun for Paige's dinosaur obsession.

The rest of the day was spent grocery shopping and relaxing in the room with toys.
