A little white lie....

For 2 nights now I have been able to tell Paige a little white lie in order to get her to go back to sleep in the night. The first night I was not aware of this trick until well into my time with her in the room (I had been reading books, laying down, etc. for almost an hour before I discovered the trick), but last night I used the trick right away. I rubbed her back for a bit (she woke up because she had hurt her finger), and then I went to leave. "No, don't go!" she says. I said, "I'm just going to the bathroom I'll be back in a bit". I knew she was tired enough that without me distracting her in the room she would fall asleep right away! haha. The trick is to leave the door open as you walk away, with the illusion of coming back. Not a lie really, I had to go to the bathroom and I would be back in the morning! I just went and got back in bed after the bathroom. I think it will only work if she looks like she could fall back to sleep right away. And it probably does work because during the day I constantly go to the bathroom and come right back!

Update: Wah ha ha! Night 3: Paige woke up after mike's phone rang loudly. She needed to go to the bathroom and when we got back in her room I lay down for 1 minute, then used the bathroom trick again successfully!

I use that one too! But you are right, they have to be on the cusp of sleep.

That is only the first "trick" you will need to use for various reasons. Good for you. I must say, I just love the new coat and such a nice picture of Paige. WOW, 10,001 hit on your blog. It must be very popular. Loved the Santa picture too. I still remember all the fuss you had with her last year. However, that is pretty much what they do that first Christmas. I don't imagine there are very many "good" first picture with Santa floating around. I so envy you this Christmas, as Paige is sooo aware of everything. Such fun. Love Gramama
