Christmas Day part 2

Christmas dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's!! Forgot a family photo AGAIN!!!

Christmas Day 2014 Part 1

Christmas morning photos below...in no particular order.  Organizing them would take too much time!
I think this year would go down as one of the most epic Christmas' yet!!  We set the girls GroClock for 6:30 and told them they could only get up after that.  I heard them wake up earlier than that but it was nice to relax for a while.  Then the girls came into our room and we all waited for a while until Henry woke up.

We had some very excited kids-- The girls desperately wanted mermaid tails from Santa, which they got, as well as a few other things they wanted (an Elsa doll for Rose, and a Minecraft video game for Paige). Henry got cleaning supplies as we all know he loves sweeping and order.  We limited the toys this year as much as possible in order to get them a surprise gift of a trip to Great Wolf Lodge a few days after Christmas.  They were excited, but also confused when they unwrapped the explanation about the upcoming trip.  Henry had almost no interest in any of the presents except his brooms at first, and then Rosie's cash register. He only wanted to play with that.

Standard Christmas breakfast--a little less gluten than usual.

Video game!

Rose bought Daddy a hockey puck at her school sale.

Cowboy boots, jammies, and a mess

Injuries by Henry

One day while I was getting Henry ready to pick up the girls from school he was quite upset.  I thought maybe he wanted his water bottle, which was beside us on the window ledge.  I passed it to him and he tried to take a sip.  I later realized that the straw was not in the cup, which is what must have made him mad.  At any rate when he sipped it, he got mad and chucked the bottle at my face.  Major pain! I put my hand to my face and it was bleeding!! It was a sharp cut under my eye that was all bloody and bruised.  I had to immediately go pick up the girls from school as by now we were running late.  I can't even imagine what people must have thought.  I wish I had brought ice because it hurt so much.  It was a really cloudy day too so I couldn't feasibly wear sunglasses.  So brutal.  He realized what he had done though because he kept saying "owie" and pointing to it.

Last night Henry chucked a remote control at Mike's head and he got a painful bruise and bad headache.

Boys!! I was in the camp that boys and girls are very similar, but the girls never threw stuff at us! If you give Henry a bag of rocks he'll chuck them at Scout, or just throw them as far as he can.

Aquarium and Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve.  The last day of the advent calendar.  Also, the day of the largest chocolate!

Henry tries to tidy up.  I miss this whole routine.  Every day we would ask "who wants their advent calendar?" and Henry would say "me!!" and then start freaking out.  "Yay!...yay!!"

After the last calendar ritual we got ready quick and headed downtown for our yearly activity.  The kids wanted to go to the aquarium again.  It's really great, and was less busy than last year when it had just opened.  We had more time to look at things closely.

 Santa made a stop!

Paige in a fish tank:

After the aquarium we went to our typical pub lunch.  We were with Grandma and Grandpa at the aquarium and Uncle Greg met us for the lunch portion.

Activities on Christmas eve are great and I highly recommend them.  For one they force you to be ready for Christmas and just enjoy Christmas Eve without craziness.  Speaking of craziness, there is less of that at home--driving to Toronto is very time consuming and we get home late afternoon with tired kids.  They then watch a Christmas movie, have dinner, check out the Norad Santa Tracker, and then go to bed nice and tired.  Nice and controlled fun!

Matching Jammies! Henry's were size 6 months so I had to get hime new ones this year that basically match.  The girls still fit.

I had bought cookie dough in a gymnastics fundraiser so the girls scooped out one clump of batter each and we made just 2 cookies for santa right before bed.

Also before bed the girls went out front to sprinkle "reindeer food" around on the driveway.  What a nice memory of them.  So small and right into the magic of it all.
