Art Camp

After Paige was halfway into her horseback riding camp and I realized how much fun she was having, I decided to sign up both her and Rose into art camp.  I hadn't planned much for summer as I didn't know how many things we'd want to do outside of the house and playdates with friends.  The girls were definitely ready to do something.  There happened to be 1 camp all summer that was for ages 3-6. Great for Rose to go to her first camp with her sister.  It was pirate camp, so they did pirate paintings, clay pirates, and paper mache parrots.  It ran for 4 afternoons.  They came home with paint in their hair and Rose ruined a pair of pants.  The both still have paint in their hair 2 weeks later.

Took this from the 4 cats facebook page, so I don't know who the other girls are.

I'm quite impressed with their art.  Majorly impressed.  They take all 4 days to complete each piece so nothing is rushed.  I was so excited all week to see what they'd done.  Paige was trying to keep it a secret. I sent the paintings back to the studio after the showed them to Mike so they can be stretched onto a frame.  We're going to put them up on the wall at home.  Some kids take numerous classes so they don't automatically put them on frames otherwise some people would have too many.  The studio offers classes all year long so I'm sure we'll do another one at some point.

First visit to the cottage...

Mike took a week off work and we headed up north for 3 nights.  It was unseasonably cold so no swimming happened--except for Scout...she basically wouldn't get out of the water.  Oh, and Rose put her bathing suit on for a little bit of splashing.  Nothing like we're used to for August though. At night we even had the heat on and our winter pyjamas.

Rose can do the splits
I wish we'd taken a picture of the measuring wall.  Paige and Rose grew SO MUCH since last summer.  REally hard to believe.  I'd say 4-5 inches each.  Rose is almost as tall as Paige was at age 4.

A successful first trip up north all in all.  Both car rides were perfect and it was very relaxing.  Henry's sleep wasn't bad, and I felt well rested.  Scout slept in a makeshift kennel made out of a coffee table and some pillows--she really can't be trusted to wander around yet.  Of course I missed out on a boat ride with no one to watch Henry, and we were a little out of routine.  Next year will be easier and we'll get up there more.  The girls were so excited to go and really happy to be there. We have to bring so many clothes for the kids that it's ridiculous.  Without laundry, and with a lot of dirt outside, a spitting up and poppy baby, and warm and cold weather we needed 4 suitcases.  crazy.  At least Scout barely needs anything.

Henry at 3 months

What a difference a few weeks makes! Instead of saying that Henry was fussy, I'd now say he was chilled out and easy.  Of course I wish he didn't wake up 3 times in the night now (it used to be 2 or sometimes 1), but he is pretty awesome during the day.  Being ridiculously cute certainly helps too.  And the smiles.  Gotta love those smiles.  Instant mood booster.

In the past 3 or 4 weeks he has started to have naps in the crib as opposed to only in the bouncy chair or on the road.  Of course a walk in the stroller, or a car ride will help him sleep quickly.  When he is awake he likes being held and walking around the house, or being held in the standing position, or hanging out in his bouncy chair.  He's really beginning to like the jumper, although i have a pillow under it and he just chills out rather than bounces.  The bumbo seat is good for a couple of minutes but not much more.  He hasn't started to hold anything yet but is beginning to swat at the toys on his activity mat, or on the bouncy chair bar.

I took him for a weigh in at the doctor a couple of days ago, so a week and a half after he was officially 3 months, and he weighted 12lbs 6 oz.  He definitely seemed a lot bigger recently.  He's still not a chubby baby, but is definitely a lot longer.  Rose was the same weight at 2 months so maybe he is the smallest of the 3 for now, but hopefully he'll be the tallest.

His gas and digestive problems appear to be gone.  Still a lot of spitting up but anything seems like a lot when the other 2 didn't spit up at all.

He is definitely teething and we're eagerly awaiting for the teeth to pop out.  I assume at 4 months they will.  If he's on track with his sisters he could roll over in a few weeks too.

It was really sad the other day when I had to retire the first batch of clothes.  He's generally onto size 3-6 months, but lots of the 0-3 still fits, just depends on what it is.  I realized that he would need some summer clothes for florida in the winter so I just had to do some online shopping for him (darn!) and get some summer clothes on sale in size 12 months...I assume those will be ok for a 9 month old...even if a bit big he'll use them in the summer.

Loving every minute with him.  But whoever said going from 2-3 kids was easier than 1-2 was wrong! Well some of it is easier as the girls entertain each other, but really adding an extra kid is just going to be more work no matter what.  Of course now is the summer and all 3 are home.  Things will change in the fall....
