3 things....

1. I have officially lost the 55 pounds of baby weight! yeee ha! (don't mistake this for me looking the same that I did pre-pregnancy...no my friends...these are 2 very different things.....)

2. I can officially fit into all of my pre-baby clothes...however, the shirts all seem to have shrunk. I attribute this to either the fact that my rib cage seems to have expanded, or that pre-baby I didn't mind if my stomach showed for a split second while reaching up, etc. Now...not a chance. I also like the fact that my winter boots don't cut off my circulation like they did last year. And I can fully zip them up with room to spare!

3. I just spent a fortune on my hair since my work discount has expired...apparently my maternity leave is finally over after almost 2 years. I almost died when I saw the price...luckily I had a gift card...but still! Now I see...how do people afford that place??!

Dora the Explorer....

Complete obsession. There must be subliminal messaging in the show. I turned it on the other day when I really needed to quickly get ready for Mike's office party and I needed Paige to stay in the family room. Well, as I was getting ready she did not leave the room for a good 45 minutes as the show played. Now she asks "doh-DOH? DOH DOH!!?" all the time. She follows this by "tv? TV?". I only turn it on when it is a good "babysitter"...ie. when she woke up really early the other day and i had a horrible night sleep. I got to slowly wake up as she watched the show. Or, if she has a short nap and I need to do something like banking. Or right now when she was desperately asking to watch it and I knew we had to get ready for swimming/I could write in this blog if I had enough time. But I swear she is not watching it all the time. The problem is that now I can't watch any tv at all since if I turn it on she says "No?....doh-dOH?"

I have to admit that this comes at the right time since she is not in a toy phase and only wanted me to read her books non-stop. And, it was getting really hard to get ready in the mornings as she ran around me and took stuff from my drawers. I'm looking forward to bringing out her new dollhouse we got her for Christmas.

Conversations with Paige III

This morning as I was getting ready to go out Paige was watching Dora. From what I could hear there was something going on where the rooster needed to wake up the sun. I also heard snoring noises coming from the sun.

Anyway...this is what happened in the car on our drive to our play group:

Paige (says randomly): "N-night"

me: "who went n-night?"

Paige: "sun"

New things....

A few new things.....

1. No more nap time bottle, she seems to be able to fall asleep with just a few book readings.

2. As for playtime, likes looking at books and magazines 80% of the time. Other toys the other 20%.

3. Hardly any "baby talk" anymore....pretty much only uses words, or things that are words to her, that I just can't understand. (eg. "a-doh"....says this a lot...not sure what it means)

4. Has a favourite show (only will watch for a few minutes, but asks for it) "Wonder Pets". You can get it on Free on Demand. She calls it "Monkey" and hands me the remote. There was a monkey on one episode, so that may be why she calls it that, or maybe she thinks the guinea pig is a monkey.

Obsessive....

Literally every time Paige and I go in the car she says "No....santa....knee....deer" or a combination of a few of these words. I have come to the conclusion that it isn't that she is really obsessing over it, but rather it has become a habit to talk about Santa in the car, kind of like it has become a habit to ask for a snack in the car. We're going to a Christmas party at the rec center on December 15 and Santa will be there....uh oh!

-------

At our play group this morning we were about to sing the sleeping bunny song in which the kids lie on the floor and pretend to be sleeping bunnies. Well, as I go to help Paige lie on the floor, she was obviously quite aware of what to do and had already started to lie down on her own. In the process as I was "helping" her I helped to bonk her head against the gym floor and cause her to cry for a few minutes. I can just see what it looked like from the outside....me slamnming my child's head against the floor "BE A SLEEPING BUNNY!!". Kind of like when Paige is walking around in the rec center and I gently touch her back to show her which direction to walk and she happens to fall at that exact moment so I look like I pushed her to the ground. OH mommy...

First trip to Santa....woops.....

On Saturday we got Paige dressed up in the coveted sweater-dress and went out for breakfast. We told her at breakfast that we would go to see Santa after. "Santa!" she says all morning. "Do you want to see Santa?" we kept asking her all through breakfast and in the car. "YA" she kept saying. Then we went to the mall and showed her a santa up close. "Do you want to see Santa?", we ask. "No", she says. We waited about 10 minutes and then lined up for Santa. She was fine in the line, and then Mike sat with her on the bench beside santa. He started to ask her some questions, and from my vantage point, she had never looked so cute in her whole life. She was saying "ya" looking up at him and nodding to all of his questions. Mommy was so proud. Then Mike made the move to put her on santa's knee. ..........WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH". NOT happy. We had to give up but Santa still gave her a gift. We'll have to try again next year. Mike says that even though she looked really cute answering his questions she was saying ya in a really frantically scared voice.

It was definitely a Christmas learning experience, though. She now relates the word "knee" to Santa, and when we ask "what does santa have?" she says "deer".

Favourite outfit....

This morning Paige picked up her dress from last night that hadn't made it into the laundry basket, and said "nice!". She then proceeded to chuck it at me and sit in my lap so that I could put it on her. I thought she liked it since she had called it "nice" before, but this confirms it. It's the jealous-mommy sweater dress from the previous post.

---------

It's amazing how toddlers can pick up on words quickly when they want to. Last night Paige was given a bit of pie at Auntie Amanda's birthday party. We told her it was pie and then she kept saying "pie.....more....pie....more".
